How to choose the right blinds for your home

Blinds have been used for many decades, but today, thanks to the fast progress of technology, people can choose between many different styles of blinds depending on their personal taste and the décor of their home.

Blinds are perfect for dressing your windows, providing sun shading for your furniture and flooring, and giving you that all-important privacy. In addition, they provide good heat and sound insulation – keeping you warm and snug in the winter and blocking out the warmth of the sun in summer. These blinds are often called soft blinds can be easily recognized when they are raised because they come with soft folds. Of course, when they are lowered the material is straight. Venetian blinds

Those looking for a more refined and unique look should choose Venetian blinds. They come with horizontal slats that can be easily adjusted. In addition, people can adjust the amount of light that enters the room. They can be made of slim aluminium or real wood to match your style, and are available in a huge range of colours to match your décor.

Vertical blinds

The most practical of all blinds, the vertical blind had hanging strips of material called louvres suspended from a headrail. The louvres can be draw across and left opened, angled to give shading or closed for privacy. And when they are not needed they easily and effortlessly can be drawn open to give you an unobstructed view.

Pleated blinds

These fan folded blinds are neat and unobtrusive, with the added benefit of being able to be cut into shapes – making them ideal for conservatory roof shading.

Many of the pleated fabrics are available with a special reflective coating making them idea for hot rooms or sun lounges.

Electric blinds

All of the above blinds can be offered with electric operation. Although often seen as a luxury item, electric blinds offer security with optional timers to open and close the shades at a set time, and make closing hard to reach windows as easy as pressing a button.
