There are many benefits to having plantation shutters installed in your home. Not only are they stylish and on-trend, but they also offer some practical benefits for homeowners. They are highly efficient at controlling light, privacy and noise from the outside.

The adjustable louvres or slats make it possible to control the amount of light and privacy in your home. They are also very easy to clean and maintain; simply dust them as required and wipe away any spills or mishaps with a damp cloth.

They are extremely durable and will last for many years with proper care. This makes them an excellent investment for your home. In fact, they are so desirable that they could even add value to your property, which is excellent news if you're thinking about selling.

Shutter blinds are a timeless design that will serve your home well for years to come. With the right care, they could last in excess of 50 years.

Faux wood window treatments offer all the benefits of real wood shutters, but at a more affordable price point. They are made from high-quality composite materials that are designed to look like real wood. This makes them an excellent choice for homeowners who want the look of wood shutters without the higher price tag.

Faux wood shutters are also very easy to care for and maintain; simply dust them as required and wipe away any spills with a damp cloth. They are highly durable and will last for many years with proper care, making them an excellent investment for your home.

Hardwood shutters offer a classic look that never goes out of style. They provide privacy and light control and can be customised to fit any window. Hardwood shutters are also durable and easy to care for, making them a great choice for any home. Since hardwood is more prone to warping, this type of material isn't suitable for moist environments such as the bathroom or kitchen.

We offer a variety of bay window treatments that are sure to fit your needs. Our shutters can be made from a variety of materials, including hardwood, vinyl, and composite. We also offer a variety of colours and finishes to choose from, so you can find the perfect look for your home. When choosing between shutters and blinds, you should consider the following.

The look you want to achieve:

  1. Bay windows with shutters provide a classic, timeless look, while blinds can be more modern or traditional, depending on the style.
  2. How much light control you need: Shutters give you complete control over the amount of light that comes in, while blinds allow some light to filter through.
  3. Privacy concerns: Shutters offer complete privacy, while blinds may allow some light to pass through.
  4. Maintenance: Shutters are easy to care for and don't require much maintenance. Blinds may require more cleaning and dusting.

There are many different types of shutters, but the most common are MDF shutters, faux wood shutters, and hardwood shutters. They can have a modern or traditional feel, depending on how you style shutters in your home.

MDF shutters are a cost-effective choice for your home. They are available in a wide range of colours and finishes to suit your style.

Faux wood shutters are made from high-quality synthetic materials that are designed to look like real wood. This makes them an excellent choice for homeowners who want the look of wood shutters without the higher price tag.

Hardwood shutters are made from natural wood and provide a classic look that is both timeless and elegant. They are available in different wood grain options, allowing you to choose a natural finish for your home.

When choosing your shutters, consider if you want complete window coverage or partial height shutters. Made to measure shutters offer the best flexibility in terms of coverage for different window types, including living rooms, large windows, bay windows and waterproof shutters for bathrooms.

When measuring for DIY shutters, you will need to take into account the following:

The width of the shutter: The width of the shutter should be equal to the width of the whole window opening, plus any moulding or trim.

The shutter's height: The shutter's height should be equal to the height of the window opening, plus any moulding or trim. You can also choose café-style shutters, which finish half-way up the window. These are ideal for privacy in a downstairs room, while still allowing in plenty of light.

If you're unsure about how to measure your windows for DIY shutters, our team would be happy to help. Contact us today to learn more about our measuring services.

The main difference between California shutters and plantation shutters is the size of the louvers. California shutters have a narrow louvre that is closer to 2.5 inches while plantation shutters have a wider louvre which is closer to 3.5 inches. Wider slats are an excellent choice for bedrooms while the narrow slats look excellent in bathrooms and lounge areas.

As plantation shutters are larger, they tend to look better in bigger windows as they look more in proportion to the room. California shutters are an excellent choice for smaller window types as they look more balanced with the space available. Within these two styles of shutters, you can also choose whole window style shutters, or cafe style shutters which only cover the lower portion of your window.

Shutters do not serve the same function as double glazing, but they can help to make your home warmer. They are best paired with double glazing to help insulate the property in winter months and to reduce noise from the outside. Full height shutters will provide greater insulation than shutters that only cover the lower portion or bottom half of your windows.

If you are thinking about replacing your windows, you should do this before having your shutter blinds installed as this could change the shape of your windows and make your shutters less effective. It could also damage your new shutters during the installation process as they may need to be removed to gain access.

Absolutely! It's possible to put shutter blinds on most window types, including full height shutters for a conservatory space. This will help to update the look of your home and create a stylish and contemporary space with enhanced light and privacy control.
