The importance of quality blinds in the bedroom

We’ve all experienced a bad night’s sleep at some point in our lives, some more than others, but how much can the quality of sleep really affect our daily lives and what can we do to help this?

We’ve all experienced a bad night’s sleep at some point in our lives, some more than others, but how much can the quality of sleep really affect our daily lives and what can we do to help this?

Nowadays people are sleeping less and the quality of sleep has decreased too. When you’re asleep, your body is healing and repairing itself. If your body doesn’t recuperate sufficiently you can experience all sorts of negative effects such as feeling low, weight gain and even diabetes.

Sleep is just as important as diet and exercise - you could be the healthiest person on the planet but if you’re not gaining enough quality sleep then your hard work is being undone.

Did you know we are the only mammals that delay sleep willingly?

What’s wrong with curtains?

Curtains are the most popular solution for dressing bedroom windows and there are so many stylish options available. They may look pretty but are they doing a good job? Curtains can block out a certain level of light and stop nosey neighbours peering in, but it can be annoying when you’re woken early or in the middle of the night by light streaming in around the edges of your curtains?

We are not suggesting that you rip them down to replace, after all, you did choose them to tie in with the rest of your décor, however why not think about adding blackout blinds to reinforce a dark, deep, good night’s sleep?

Blackout blinds explained

When you think about blackout blinds, the first thing that may come to mind is big, ugly and industrial looking, however they have moved on a lot. We stock a large range of blackout blinds in a variety of colours, fabric, thickness and translucency. Roller blinds are the most common type of blackout product, but we also have blackout versions of vertical blinds, pleated blinds, can add a lining to roman blinds and provide a blackout option in our Hive energy saving blinds.
