Staying safe at home puts the walls of our houses under more scrutiny than usual, which makes decorating an excellent way to pass the time.

Is the lounge looking tired, or are the kids’ bedrooms way out of date? What about you – have you always dreamed of creating your own corner of peace to escape to? Now is the time.

Plan exactly what you want to do (you have the time after all) then set to work gradually, taking daily steps to create the home that you really want.

Choosing an on-trend colour scheme will help to make your home look more modern and will help to set the tone for an overall scheme or look.

Match or contrast walls with carefully chosen soft furnishings, such as blinds and curtains – as many retailers are continuing to trade online.

Reynolds Blinds will be offering a full online service, including quotes and telephone support to answer any queries that you may have in relation to materials, sizing or fitting.

On trend colours for decorating during lockdown

Many on-trend colours are chosen for more than just being easy on the eye and often have a greater significance in representing themes in the wider world. Take inspiration from this season’s on-trend colours:

Neo-mint

Hotly-tipped as a new trend, neo-mint apparently signifies the union of science, nature and technology. Green certainly helps to bring the outside in and more than that, in these times, green is known to be a calming colour. Those values certainly cannot be underestimated in setting a colour scheme.

Choose green blinds to blend in or go for a strong but complimenting contrast such as grey from Reynolds Blinds.

Earthy tones

Again, underlining our desire to reflect and appreciate the health benefits of nature, Earthy tones bring warmth into the home. Choose subtle browns, pinks and greys. Complete the look with wooden blinds, wood furniture and plants scattered around in terracotta pots.

Classic Blue

The Pantone colour of 2020, Classic Blue represents ‘calm, confidence and connection’, which we can certainly relate to at these times. This colour is great for a complete co-ordinated scheme, for splashes of colour against neutrals or matched with flashes of gold for a classical style.

A super-flexible colour, blue matches well with wooden shutters and blinds as well as cream, patterned or dark grey curtains.

White

All white interiors continue to be a big hit because of the illusion of space that they create – and we certainly appreciate that when spending more time indoors. It easy and it’s cheap so what is not to like from a painting point of view? Sheer window dressings compliment this minimalist look, while white roman blinds or wooden blinds can really deliver the perfect finishing touch.

Patterns

Combine two or more colours by experimenting with simple patterns on the walls of your home – this is ideal for a children’s room or a study where distraction is welcome. Mark out geometric shapes with tape, or mountain peaks then go for either a subtle shift, such as grey to white, or a bold clash such as cobalt blue and dusky pink.

Let your imagination run wild – especially in children’s rooms where time restraints may have previously made you stick to simple colour choices in the past.

Find the ideal blinds or curtains to match at Reynolds Blinds with either bold, patterned curtains to match or plain blinds to let the colour scheme take centre stage.

While you are busy creating the home that you always wanted, remember that Reynolds Blinds are here to help with online and telephone support to meet demand for new curtains and blinds.
